Principal’s Update
Dear families,
What a remarkable year 2024 has been! We’ve celebrated and participated in an array of wonderful events, including our first Parent Teacher IEP Meetings, Interm Swimming, Book Week, Starkick AFL Carnival, ESSN Soccer Carnival, the Sports Carnival, Day for Daniel, NAIDOC Week, the ESSN Year 6 Camp, and the Colour Run. These occasions highlight the vibrant and inclusive community we share.
As the year comes to a close, I hope you take the time to read your child’s reports and celebrate their achievements with pride.
On behalf of the students and staff at Gwynne Park ESC, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible P&C for their dedication and fundraising efforts. Their contributions this year have been extraordinary, funding initiatives such as the Early Years Playground, School Fun Day, camp support and graduation dogs. Your hard work and commitment make a meaningful difference in our school community—thank you!
To our school families and wider community, thank you for your ongoing support throughout the year. To our staff, your unwavering commitment to our students, your care, and your passion for fostering growth and learning are what make our school truly special. Your efforts are deeply appreciated.
As we look ahead to 2025, I want to acknowledge and bid farewell to the staff members who are moving on to new opportunities. Kalya Nairn will join Westfield Park Primary School and Maddy Beckett will be moving to Riverside ESC. Both of these individuals have contributed immensely to our school, and we thank them wholeheartedly for their dedication and service. We also warmly welcome Hesther DuPlooy & Kellie Sawyer to our teaching team for next year.
It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to our incredible Year 6 graduates. To our graduating class of 2024 — congratulations on completing this chapter of your education. As you step into high school, I hope you carry fond memories of your time at Gwynne Park ESC and embrace the exciting adventures ahead with confidence and enthusiasm.
Finally, I wish you all a safe and restful holiday break. May your Christmas and New Year be filled with joy and togetherness.

Year 1 – ES2
Season's greetings to all our families in ES2! What a fun-filled and memorable 5 weeks we've had together. On Friday, 15th November, our ES2 students had a fantastic time visiting Malibu School for Market Day, where we managed to sell some shirts that we made as part of our enterprise project. The excitement continued on Friday, 22nd November, when the whole school participated in an Active Travel Day, sponsored by the Department of Transport. Our students learned valuable road safety tips with Izzy the Lizard and even got a chance to make smoothies on a Blender Bike, which was both fun and educational. Over weeks 7, 8, and 9, our students enjoyed meeting their new teachers and peers as part of the 2025 transition process, helping them get ready for the upcoming year. On Wednesday, 27th November, ES2 took part in the annual Colour Run, dressing in white and braving the super soakers for a splash of fun! As we reach our final week of the term, we have more exciting activities to look forward to. ES2 will be heading to Don Simmons Reserve for our class party, followed by some water play as part of our End of Year Fun Day celebrations. The staff in ES2 would like to extend their warmest wishes to all our families for a very happy holiday season and all the very best for 2025. Be safe, be sun smart, and most importantly, have fun!
From Mrs. Abbott and the ES2 Team.

Year 4/5 - Rm 17
Here we are, at the end of another year at Gwynne Park ESC, and what a year we’ve had! We’ve been reading stories about greedy pugs wanting too many presents, and some boys who ate too much Christmas pudding! We all worked together to write a book, “A Year in Room 17”, highlighting some favourite moments from across the year such as Harmony Day and our AQWA excursion. In Maths, we have been learning addition, subtraction and division strategies, and in HASS we have been searching for famous locations across Europe, Africa and the Americas.
We’ve had lots of exciting events across the school as well. We learned about public transport during the Your Move incursion, and many of our students learned some basics on how to skateboard (and were very good at it!). Our highlight was the Colour Run, where we all got very messy. It was a memorable experience!
As the reports go home, I encourage you to reflect on your child’s progress across the year – we are all proud of what they have achieved in 2024. We can’t wait to hear about their achievements in Year 5 and Year 6 in 2025!
I would also like to take this opportunity to send our best wishes to Mason and Eva, who have moved on from Gwynne Park ESC this term. These students will be greatly missed.
Have a relaxing and safe Christmas break! See you next year!

Year 2 – ES4
Dear Families,
As we get closer to the end of the term, I want to share how much progress we’ve made together! This semester, we’ve focused on helping our students grow into confident individuals. They’ve been learning important life skills like cleaning up after themselves, returning materials to their proper places, and stacking and unstacking chairs by colour.
I’m so proud of how our students have improved in reading, math, and HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences). We’ve also talked about staying safe, making healthy choices, and handling real-life situations independently. We’ve been working on communication skills and helping everyone express their feelings, which has been great for managing worries and fears. Students have learned to use different strategies and take breaks when they need to.
This term has been lots of fun! We’ve practised reading, writing, and speaking by exploring stories and sounds from celebrations around the world. We’ve learned about measurement, money, geography, and how to tell time. The students also made some amazing artwork using natural, man-made, and recycled materials, including musical instruments for our market day stall!
In our health sessions, we focused on well-being, personal growth, and respecting personal space. Activities like the colour run and our road safety program have helped us connect and learn together. It’s inspiring to see how much confidence and skills our students have gained in just a short time.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. My team and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025 in advance!
Warm wishes and happy holidays,
Teaching Team ES4 2024

Physical Education
As term four draws to a close students have been revisiting their Fundamental Movement Skills and team cooperation. To make this more fun we have been doing activities such as both open field and regular soccer, basic teeball, cycling, obstacle course, cornhole, totem and regular tennis and kites! Students have especially been doing great work to cooperate in unfamiliar games and try a wide variety of skills. It has been particularly impressive to see how good so many students were at skateboarding in the Your Move incursion.

Kindy / Pre-Primary – ES1
It has been a busy year this year in ES1. It is hard to think that the year has come to an end and time for everyone to move onto their new classrooms next year. Every student has developed a lot of skills and made a huge amount of progress since the start of the year. They have learnt to follow instructions, to play together and take turns and share. Social skills both within and outside the classroom have increased. They started the year as nine individuals, all doing their own thing, to ending the year as a group of friends working together.
They have listened to a lot of stories, sung many songs, danced to music, played musical instruments, built with blocks and construction materials, played with dolls and puppets, driven vehicles all around the room, investigated using magnetic letters, played with playdough, painted, coloured and drawn pictures. Learnt about the alphabet letter names and sounds and done lots of counting, sorting and matching.
To Asher, Oscar, Songolo, Shivansh, Jacob, Gali, Aurora, Raphael, and Riley, I have loved having you all in our class this year. You have all achieved so much. I wish you continued success next year in your new classrooms. Thank you to the parents for entrusting us with the care of your children it has been a privilege to have been a part of their life.
To Miss S, Miss Charlotte, Mrs Lord and all the other staff that have assisted in ES1 this year, thank you so much for your help and support to both myself and the students. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday break.

MaCs
Kaya/Hello families,
We have had an amazing year in the MaCS space – we’ve witnessed friendships grow and some amazing new one’s form during lunch club, we’ve had fun on excursions and incursions, our schools colour run and sports carnival, fun times at the Malibu Market Day, Binar Cultural program and end of term Satellite ice-cream parties.
We would like to wish all families a safe and happy Christmas holiday break and we look forward to seeing all our amazing students in 2025.
Year 4/5 - Rm 18
As we come to the end of an amazing year, it's the perfect time to reflect on the many milestones, unforgettable experiences, and growth our students have achieved throughout 2024. This year has been filled with excitement, dedication, and plenty of fun, and we are incredibly proud of the progress our students have made.
In Week 7, our students took part in Your Move Transport Day, where they enjoyed making delicious smoothies and learned how to tag on and off the bus. Many students also had the chance to try skateboarding for the first time and had a blast picking up new skills.
Throughout the year, students also had the opportunity to meet their teachers and peers for 2025 during our transition days. One of the highlights was participating in the colour run, where everyone had a great time getting drenched with water and covered in vibrant coloured powder.
On behalf of my team, I’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025! We hope you enjoy a safe, relaxing, and joyful holiday season, and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Protective Behaviours
At the end of this term students have been reviewing their previous learning about Protective Behaviours. This has been tailored to suit the needs of each class. Some topics reviewed have been public and private, safe and unsafe touch, persistence in No Go Tell, and a review of private parts. Following up after Day for Daniel older students have been reviewing their understanding of making safe choices online. For example knowing that any images posted to the internet are there forever and can be shared without context. That sharing personal details in game chats can be unsafe. And that unsafe people may pretend to be someone they already know online by using social networks and private information shared by others.
Mr James and Miss Beckett.
Year 2 – ES5
As we come to the close of another wonderful school year, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the incredible journey ES5 has had throughout 2024.
This year has been filled with memorable experiences, incredible growth, and endless moments of joy and learning. One of our most exciting highlights was the Zoo Excursion, where students marvelled at the wonders of the animal kingdom and as well as practised safety in the community. The Colour Run brought energy and excitement, as students splashed their way through vibrant colours while building camaraderie and teamwork. Additionally, the Sports Carnival was a standout event, showcasing ES5’s enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and team spirit.
Watching each student grow and progress over the year has been a privilege. Whether through academic achievements, social development, or personal milestones, the effort and determination every student has shown have been nothing short of inspiring.
As 2024 comes to a close, we want to thank families for their continued support and partnership. It has been a joy to work alongside you to nurture and guide your child’s growth.
We wish all our students the very best for 2025 and beyond. May the new year bring exciting opportunities, continued growth, and lots of success. Have a safe and happy holiday season!
Warm regards,
The ES5 Team
Year 2/3 - Rm 19
Hello parents and Carers,
It is that time of the year again, Christmas is all around us. In the past week the children have been having fun making Christmas craft and we have decorated the classroom window with the artwork created by the children. Room 19 is ready for the Christmas window competition to be judged on Wednesday.
The recent colour run was successful, and the children and staff had a blast. I have shared some photos of the day.
Room 19 have had visitors in the form of three elves. They have been up to lots of mischief. Varfee opened his literacy box to find our first elf called Henry. Then somehow another elf called Eddy joined him. A couple of days later Elsie turned up. They have climbed up to the ceiling, wrapped the Christmas tree in toilet paper, scribbled over the class photo wearing Ryans glasses. He melted the snowman, ate all the chocolates from the lolly jar. Not to mention, they have tried taking off in the pirate ship with a whole pack of Cadbury Favourites. The children think it’s funny and are always looking for what they are up to next.
This year has gone so fast and it’s hard to believe there is four days left. On reflection about the past year, I am so proud of what your children have achieved. I am truly amazed at how far they have come in all areas Maths, English, problem solving, speaking and listening and their social skills. They have tried their best and this shows in how far they have progressed. It has been a privilege to have been their teacher.
The weather is warming up just in time for the holidays so you can spend time with your children doing lot of summer fun. Have a wonderful Christmas and new year.
Mrs Lori and EA staff from room 19
Year 6 - Rm 15
As the year draws to a close, it’s time to celebrate the incredible achievements, laughter, and memories that we’ve made together. This term has been full of exciting events, but three highlights truly stand out: the Colour Run, Year 6 Graduation Assembly, and our unforgettable End-of-Year Fun Day.
One of the most vibrant and exciting events of the term was the Colour Run! Students, teachers, and families came together to take part in this fun-filled event, where everyone was doused in a rainbow of colours as they ran, jogged, or walked along the track. The enthusiasm was contagious, and the atmosphere was electric as participants cheered each other on and celebrated the joy of being part of such a colourful community. From bright blues to fiery reds, the Colour Run was a spectacular sight, bringing everyone together for a fantastic cause—promoting health, happiness, and school spirit! Students had a great time getting to slime some of the staff!
A particularly special moment was our Year 6 Graduation Assembly, where we bid farewell to our incredible Year 6 students. With their hard work, dedication, and resilience, they’ve grown into remarkable individuals ready to take on the challenges of secondary school. The assembly was filled with speeches, awards, and memories shared by teachers and students. There was laughter, there were tears, and most importantly, there was a deep sense of pride in all that our Year 6 students have accomplished. We wish them all the best as they embark on their new adventures!
To cap off a fantastic year, we held our End-of-Year Fun Day—a day filled with games, activities, and plenty of laughter. The students had the chance to enjoy various outdoor games, water play and movies. The Fun Day was a wonderful way to let loose and celebrate all the hard work that went into making this year a success.
Enjoy the holidays and I wish you all the best in your high school journey, remember you are always welcome to come and visit us!
Thank you, Chloe and Room 15 staff
Pre-Primary / Year 1 – ES3
The last five weeks have been so much fun, filled with exciting adventures and memorable moments! We kicked things off on Your Move Transport Day by making delicious smoothies, and then got to meet Izzy the lizard, which was such a cool experience. The Kwinana Adventure Park was a huge success, where students developed their independence by carrying their own school bags off the bus to the picnic area. They also showed great progress in their social skills, making new friends at the park. During our last visit, we had a thrilling treasure hunt, where students found a gold coin and exchanged it for a gift bag! We also had the chance to meet our new teachers and peers for 2025 during transitions, and we had a blast at the colour run, getting sprayed with water and covered in vibrant coloured powder. A highlight was sliming some of our favourite teachers, which was hilarious! This week, we’re looking forward to our final assembly, where two students from each class will receive a book award, and PBS prizes will be handed out. This will be followed by a whole school water play fun day to end the year with a splash. The past five weeks have flown by, and it’s amazing to see how much our students have grown and flourished throughout the year. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Stay safe, and we can’t wait to see you next year!
All the best, ES3 staff.
Year 4/5 - Rm 16
And just like that, we find ourselves in Week 10. The second half of the term could best be described as vibrant and warm, as our class worked towards consolidating a remarkable year and transitioning into the next, all against the backdrop of the seasonal shift into Birak (Summer).
The Active Travel Festival in Week 7 was an amazing learning experience, offering something for everyone, from extreme sports, heavy vehicles to delicious food. Each Wednesday afternoon since then, we have welcomed new members into our class for next year during our transition sessions. For Room 16, these sessions included a variety of friendship-building activities such as "getting to know you" snowball fights, paper crafts, aeroplane and car-building challenges, and board games.
In Week 8, we launched our classroom Minecraft server, where students collaborated to construct incredibly detailed parts of the school for digital exploration. That same week also brought the unforgettable ESC Colour Run, an event filled with boundless excitement and joy. Students and teachers alike ended the afternoon completely drenched in a mix of water, coloured chalk, mystery goo, and tears of laughter.
Now, as we approach the final days of the term, with the upcoming final assembly, the end-of-year fun day, and the festive spirit of Christmas in the air, I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks. To everyone who has contributed to bringing us not only to the finish line of 2024 but doing so in style - with love in our hearts, strength in our stride, and learning on our minds, thank you!
- Mr. Littleton
